Ever hear the saying “Shared joy is double joy”?
Well, I just discovered a source of shared joy that I think will way more than double the delight of everyone in the neighborhood.
So, of course, I need to share it with you.
“Improv Everywhere (We Cause Scenes) is comedian and director Charlie Todd’s decades-long project to bring extraordinary moments of surprise and delight to ordinary places. Based in New York City but producing projects around the world, Improv Everywhere pioneered large-scale surprise public performances, where members (“agents”) play their roles entirely straight, not breaking character or betraying that they are acting. Their missions aim to give observers a laugh and a positive experience.”
And who can resist this idea? Not me, my friend.
Listen in to hear about a few of their projects, like the “No Pants Subway Ride,” the “Stand Here for Dance Party” phenomenon, and more ways this organization orchestrates unexpected scenes of public scenes of great joy.
And you just might get a little inspiration to come up with a few of your own!
