Podcast Episode 218: Be A Light

Apr 1, 2025 | Podcast, Tough times

Friends! It’s here at last!  I am so excited to announce the release of my new book, No Matter What: 90 Devotions for Experiencing Unexpected Joy in Tough Times! You can get your copy on Amazon or wherever you buy books. Just please know that I wrote this for you as an invitation to journey with me, and by the end of the book, I hope you’ll feel as though you’ve had ninety days of encouragement from a good friend—with a sense of humor. Because you need one of those. And God has one to share.

When the challenges of life threaten to send your spirit underground, I hope these pages  give you hope for soul-filling delight . . .

First thing in the morning when your feet hit the floor.

Last thing at night before your head hits the pillow.

Or during the day when you need a bit of encouragement from our God, who hears your heart…

Now on to this week’s episode!

Two weeks ago I ran into a lady. Literally ran into her car. I was traveling at the breakneck speed of maybe half a mile an hour, just pulling into a parking place, when I misjudged the distance from my car’s nose to her car’s left rear side panel, and made contact with a thunk.

Of course, I jumped out of the car and apologized profusely. And this dear lady emerged from her car, very very calm. “What happened?” she asked, and I told her it was totally my fault, and stopped just short of offering my firstborn as collateral for the damage I caused.

But she was just so sweet. She called her husband, who was equally as calm and kind.

Because these folks had been such a bright spot in a super-annoying turn of events. (Their car had a lot more damage than mine).

And later I thought, “You know, that’s exactly what we’re all supposed to be, right? Jesus said it when He not only announced “I am the light of the world,” but also advised that “You are the light of the world.”

So apparently, wherever we find ourselves, we’re always looking to be a Light.

Listen in to be inspired (by some charming people) to do the same in your own ordinary life.
