Thank you a million times over for your kind words and enthusiastic response to my just-released book, No Matter What: 90 Devotions for Experiencing Unexpected Joy in Tough Times!. Maybe you know someone who could use some encouragement with a sense of humor. If so, I’d love it if you’d share the book with them. You can find it on Amazon or wherever books are sold.
This week on the podcast:
Sometimes, friends, it is indeed advisable to put the kabash on your curiosity. (There’s a story in this episode…)
However. At other times, about so many things, because we have the ultimate search engines at our fingertips, it can be easy to stay in a constant state of curious, being driven to find answers about a random assortment of issues, like song lyrics or information about how to get more protein in your diet, or what is that weird thing happening to your body. (Who hasn’t looked up your current “symptoms” online and scared yourself half to death with allll the possibilities?) Not long ago I was supposed to be working on a podcast episode, and found myself googling, “Whatever happened to Twiggy?” (She’s alive and well.)
Today, though, I’m inviting you to stay curious in another way: about your spiritual life when something is stealing your joy. And I want to share with you a question that might help you when your circumstances are completely sideways and you find yourself shaking your head (and maybe your fist) at God, completely baffled about his ways.
Here it is, from author, speaker and pastor Barbara Brown Taylor who once said, “To be a person of faith is doggedly to keep putting one foot ahead of the other, saying, “So what’s this about? Not ‘do I like this? Do I want more of this? Do I want less of this?’ Just ‘What’s this about?’”
Listen in to discover just what this might look like in your own actual life right now…
